Water Restoration

Water Damage Restoration Service

Water damage can occur in your home or property from simple leaks such as a leaking toilet, faulty appliances, or even large losses such as a burst wipe and heavy rainstorms. What makes water damage a difficult situation to diagnosis is that it travels into every nook and cranny of your property. This often leads to water getting in between spaces that you may not even being aware, resulting in damage to your belongings, the structural integrity through flooring & walls, and provides the perfect environment for mold growth.

Some common causes of losses are:

  • Failure of plumbing appliances
  • The buildup of water in hidden areas such as the behind kitchen cabinets
  • Issues related to the weather such as heavy rainstorms and flooding
  • Natural disasters
  • Faulty appliances
  • HVAC malfunction
  • Leaking pipes underneath flooring or inside of walls

No matter the source of the damage, Resicom can address any of these issues and can not only provide the mitigation services necessary to provide dry-out,  but also as a general contractor can put your property back together in its pre-loss condition, or can even provide upgrades.

Our Water Damage Mitigation Process

Resicom is available 24/7 to assist with your water damage emergency. We pride ourselves on our 90 minutes response time as it is critical to respond quickly to find the source and limit any further damage from occurring. Resicom is proud to be an IICRC certified firm for the inspection, cleaning, restoration, and installation industries. With less than 7,000 companies worldwide with this distinction, we pride ourselves in not only leading the industry with these standards, but stand behind a commitment of sending out a certified technician to your home or property that will ensure property procedures are followed to bring your property back to normal.

Thorough Inspection of the Site

When our certified technician arrives the first thing, they will do is provide a thorough inspection of the affected areas and come up with a solutions-based strategy. This strategy will include what dry-out equipment is needed, moisture levels throughout the space, and if any personal contents may have been damaged. Depending on the source of leak we will perform a safety check for any electrical hazards as well as if there is any water with contaminants that have affected your space and belongings.

Water Extraction

Our priority of water damage mitigation is to remove standing water ASAP. Our technicians will remove items such as clothing and furniture that are in the affected areas and use high powered water extractors to remove any standing water. Once the standing water is gone, they will address wet areas on ceilings, walls, and floors which may need to be removed depending on the extent that the water has traveled.

Drying the Area

Next our water damage technician team will use commercial grade equipment such as drying machines for different surfaces, air movers, and dehumidifiers. The goal is to create dry air and speed up the evaporation process. Our team will continue to monitor the entire area over several days and take precise notes of moisture levels and humidity levels. The dry out process usually takes between 3-5 days but may take longer depending on the amount of water and moisture in the space.  It is critical to continue to have dry out equipment placed until all moisture has been removed to eliminate any potential mold growth.

Reassessment

Once the dry out is completed we will perform another assessment ensuring no areas have been overlooked where water may have been hidden and that there is no mold growth.   If the technician finds mold, we will send our mold remediation experts to your property to remove the nasty fungi permanently. Although the drying step of our water damage restoration process is usually a success, we leave nothing to chance.

Reconstruction

As a licensed general contractor Resicom can not only assist with the mitigation portion of a water damage loss, but we can also provide repairs to the affected areas.  We will provide repair services addressing any structural damaged, replace any damaged flooring, drywall, and return your property to its’ pre- loss condition. Should you so choose, many of our customers use this opportunity to upgrade or remodel their space, which Resicom is fully capable of assisting you with.  At the end of reconstruction, your home or business will be just as you remember it, if not better!

FAQs

What causes water damage?

There are various reasons why your property can sustain water damage. Natural disasters like heavy rainstorms or floods can cause excess water to come in your home, or water could enter your house due to a leak in your plumbing. Even household appliances can cause water to start pooling in areas, when they malfunction.

Septic tanks can overflow and lead to raw sewage spilling into your home or crawlspace. When roof drains and gutters get clogged, excess water can result in serious damage to your home.

How can I prevent water damage?

It is imperative that you practice proper maintenance of your appliances to ensure they don’t cause water problems. You should also get monthly inspections on your septic tank and educate everyone in your home on the location of the water supply cutoff valve, which they should turn off in an emergency. You should also check your water bill, as a sudden increase in the bill indicates a leaky pipe or plumbing problems. If you start noticing black spots on the wall or foul odors in your home contact Resicom immediately.

What should I do after a flood, sewage or water leak?

Immediately get in touch with Resicom. The longer water is sitting, it increases the potential for damage to occur to your floors, walls, and other materials.

What are some common effects of water damage?

Excessive water in the house can lead to an extensive array of secondary effects ranging from permanent damage to your floors to mold growth within your walls.

What does the water damage restoration process involve?

The professionals at Resicom will inspect your property and stop the water source from causing additional damage to the property. We will then use our water extraction equipment to remove excess or standing water from the area. After clearing out the water, the drying process will be administered with the use of heavy fans and dehumidifiers. Once the area has been completely dried out, the air will be tested to ensure the problem is resolved and all moisture has been removed.

How long does it take until you arrive to clean up the water damage?

We have one of the fastest response times, and will be on-site within 90 minutes, since we know how important time is when handling water damage.

What is going to happen with my damaged furniture and/or contents?

Resicom will work hard to restore your property back to its pre-damaged condition. However, some items can be permanently damaged if exposed to water for prolonged periods, while other items may need to be moved to high ground and disinfected.

You should know that there are different levels of contaminated water, which will determine which items can be saved, and which ones need to be replaced. Our team will work with you to set aside items that are damaged beyond restoration, and create a list for your insurance adjuster, who will determine a reimbursement for the items.

How long will the dry out take?

The standard drying times for residential water damage can be from 3 to 5 days. If the items on your property have been exposed for a long time to water, it may take longer.

Can my family stay in our home during the drying or reconstruction process?

This will depend on which rooms have been affected by water damage, how often you use them, and if you can use bathrooms/kitchen etc. Your insurance company may reimburse you by paying for hotel accommodation and meal costs during the project.

The equipment you have running is making the air feel muggy; can I open a window or door to let in fresh air?

After all standing water is removed from the property, the drying equipment will:

  • Increase evaporation in areas where water was absorbed
  • Remove moisture in the air with powerful dehumidifiers

Sometimes the rate of dehumidification will be out of sync with the rate of evaporation, but we will be constantly monitoring the entire process, to check if we can take advantage of low humidity outside. However, the rate of evaporation depends on the temperature, so letting in outdoor air to cool a room may cause delays in the drying project.

Is it OK to keep your equipment running or do I need to do something with it?

It is best to leave the equipment running until the job has been completed, since it can run for days without suffering any problems. The service technicians will check the equipment and job progress and will take care of any problems with the equipment.

How will you know when everything is dry?

To check for accurate moisture content in different types of building materials, we use cutting-edge digital moisture meters. Some materials can be difficult to dry, since they can take on more water than others. You can ask the service technicians to show you the progress made daily in the drying process.

Should I be concerned about mold?

When you suffer water damage on your property, one of the biggest concerns you may have is mold contamination. The best solution is hiring a full-service disaster restoration service, like Resicom. We have the skills, expertise and resources to handle mold and other microbial contaminants.

Mold generally takes about 48 to 72 hours to grow after water is cleared from a property. We have a drying process that stops microbial growth.

Can Resicom address sewage contamination?

Hard surfaces need to be sanitized and cleaned, and if the items affected can’t be sanitized, they will need to be disposed. These include porous materials like paneling, particleboard, insulation, ceiling tiles, and drywall, which have been affected directly and must be removed.

Can you also take care of the repairs? What if we want to do the repairs? What if we want to remodel or upgrade at the same time?

Our first priority is making sure that your property is completely dry through an effective and swift drying process. Once the dry-out is completed by our technicians, we can discuss repair options with us.  Resicom can handle all repairs or upgrades you may desire for your property.
